Hey guys! I’m excited to finally, after over 3 years of running my blog and Instagram page, show you a peek inside my pantry! I worked with Walmart to do this big pantry makeover and give you some easy organization tips and ideas to whip your pantry into shape! The majority of the products used in my pantry makeover were from Walmart.com!
When we first moved into our house almost three years ago, I attempted to start out with an organized pantry. But as life often goes, it has become quite a mess and completely nonfunctional over the years! The problem with my pantry was that I had no system for how to deal with new items as they came in from the grocery store! So even though I had lots of bins, there was no rhyme or reason to where things were suppose to go!
So when we finally reached the point that the pantry had become just a snack hoarders dream, I decided to take action and give the space a big makeover!
1. Clean Out
The first step is to remove all the old, out-dated, or never-actually-going-to-be-eaten food items and products. We had a tendency to keep those small bags of chips that come in variety packs, even though no one in our house would ever eat them.
Once you’ve thrown away the out-dated products. It’s necessary to place the items that you want to keep in some boxes and temporarily remove them from the pantry to give yourself a blank canvas.
2. Line Shelves and/or Install Decorative Wallpaper
Because our shelves are a solid wood, painted white, I decided that there was no need to line the shelves with contact paper. However, I did add a cute buffalo check peel and stick wallpaper from Walmart to help give the space a little character and keep it from looking too sterile!
3. Invest In Storage Bins, Containers, and Baskets
The best way to keep your pantry organized to is too keep items sectioned off in bins, baskets, canisters, and other containers. I found a wide variety of great storage products on Walmart.com. Walmart has such an amazing variety of products that are high quality and very affordable. I love that I can get free shipping with a purchase of over $35 and returns are easy since you can just take them to your local store!
These wire bins, metal and wood baskets, and wicker baskets, as well as the plastic canisters for the pasta were all from Walmart! The pasta canisters are super inexpensive at less than $5 a piece!
I find that removing snack items from their boxes and placing them in the bins not only makes it easier for the kids to grab and go, but also keeps the pantry neat and tidy. The bulky boxes create much more clutter and are harder to keep organized!
4. Make Sure To Label
Labeling your containers makes it easier to keep things organized! I found these cute chalk board sticker labels on Walmart’s website. They even came with a chalk board pen to use!
5. Add Calendar and/or Dry Erase Board
I added a cute framed dry erase calendar (similar calendar here) to help keep my family on track. I can use it to plan out dinners and to make lists of things we need for my next grocery store run!
6. Reload your Pantry
Once you’ve got all the infrastructure in place for an organized space, reload all your food and other pantry items! Here are some tips as you bring everything back into the pantry:
- Remove all snacks from larger boxes.
- Place pasta and baking ingredients in ease to see and dispense containers.
- Place items that you use the most at the forefront.
- I used these undermount shelves to place our paper plates, trash bags, and plastic baggies so they would be easily accessible.
- Place snacks for the little ones on the lower shelves, while keeping baking items, breakable containers, and anything that may be dangerous to children on high shelves.
- Hide extra items that you’ve bought in bulk in the baskets up above.
- Have a solution for your spices and cans. We were lucky to have this great built in spice rack that also stores all of our canned goods. But there are some great spice racks and tiered shelving that work great in pantries.
- Use lazy susan trays in the corners of your pantry to maximize space.
7. Enjoy Your Clean and Organized Pantry
The key to keeping your pantry organized is committing to being consistent with removing items from boxes and placing them in the bins. And every once in a while, do a clean out of out-dated items!
I hope this post helps inspire you to do your own pantry makeover! It is a big job, but feels SO amazing when you’re done and actually have a clean and functional space for your family to use!

How did you decide which containers/bins to use for your pantry items? I see that you have several different kinds. I think that’s the one thing that’s overwhelming to me.
Where did you get the sign “You will eat it and you will like it?” So cute!
Your pantry looks great!!! I really like that 3 tier can organizer. Also, thanks for keeping it real about how it *might* not look like that in a week! That’s so true when you live in a home hahaha!
