Styling a bathroom can be difficult because of the need to balance the necessities you need to use on a daily basis with the desire for a clean, uncluttered look. Here are a few tips to help keep your bathroom looking clean, organized, and beautiful!
Utilize unused space:
- Make the most of any empty space in your bathroom. This empty wall in my bathroom was the perfect spot for adding extra storage. I took down the awkwardly placed towel bar (that wasn’t even near either the tub or shower) and added this gorgeous polished nickel etagere from Pottery Barn! Adding this storage allowed me to create a space for extra items (such as cotton balls, Qtips, and wash cloths) that I use often but don’t want cluttering my countertop. The etagere is the perfect size for a bathroom and I love how the clear glass shelving creates a light an airy feel to this piece of furniture. I also added several accessories from Pottery Barn to my new shelf. Pottery Barn is my favorite store to get beautiful, high quality furniture and decor for my bathroom, and for the rest of my house!
Eliminate extras:
- While I love to try out many different types of face creams and hair products, the extra bottles of products tend to clutter up your countertops and cabinets. Try to pare down your collection and keep those items which you actually like and use. Keep an extra bottle of shampoo or face wash in your cabinet, but get rid of the half used bottles of items you no longer use.
Clear off the counters:
- Think about what items do you actually need to keep out on the counter. I keep only a few items on my counters which I use throughout the day, or bulkier items that are too big to store.
Use glass storage to add functionality and style to your space:
- I loved these glass storage canisters from Pottery Barn because they are the perfect size for bathroom storage (they come in 4 different sizes: small, medium, large, and extra large), added much needed convenient access for my everyday bathroom items, and look so pretty. The glass element brings in a touch of sparkle in my bathroom. I also bought these natural sponges from Pottery Barn which are hypo-allergenic, durable, an resist the growth of bacteria and mold…plus I love how they look!
Use baskets to store things you want to hide:
- Keep your space looking organized by keeping smaller items hidden in pretty baskets. I have wash clothes stored in these baskets, but I could also store extra toiletry items or other bathroom necessities. Click here for some great baskets from Pottery Barn.
Don’t forget to add high quality linens and flowers to your bathroom:
- Use beautiful linens and flowers to add elegance and a splash of color to your bathroom. I like using basic white towels like the PB clasic towels from Pottery Barn. They are incredibly soft and really absorbent, and because they are white they can be bleached and go with any decor or color palette. Finish off your bathroom decor by adding flowers or greenery, real or faux. I prefer to use faux flowers in my bathroom so I don’t have to worry about changing them out often.
Pick the perfect area rug for your bathroom layout:
- I like having one large rug in my bathroom versus having several small bath mats. A large beautiful area rug makes such a statement, especially in a very white or plain bathroom. I also think it helps to create a more cohesive look to a small space. I chose this gorgeous Teague rug from Pottery Barn with gray tones to add pattern and interest to my all-white bathroom. It’s backing is made of synthetic latex so it will hold up to the bathroom traffic. I will have it professionally cleaned every so often to make sure it retains its beauty.
Basically, my biggest tip for creating a stylish, clutter-free, and organized bathroom is to simplify and only keep out the things you really need which make the room feel clean and beautiful! I’ve included the links to some of my favorite Pottery Barn bathroom products below. The next thing I need to organize in my bathroom is my cabinets and drawers. Stay tuned for that!

I love the layout of your bathroom with your vanities beside your freestanding tub! Is your water closet to the left of your makeup vanity and your closet the door opposite the entrance to your bathroom?
Yes, the water closet is next to the makeup vanity. The door to the bathroom leads to a small area where we have a full length mirror. On one side of the area the door to the bathroom and the other side of the area is the closet.
Hi sweet Erin! Where did you find your pretty prints of roses in your frames? Your whole bathroom is beautiful! ❤️
